We were saddened by the absence of Pavel Kolesnikov at our
May 8th
event held at Greshams School due to the ongoing visa
problems
experienced by artists visiting us from Russia. We would
like to invite
our concerned audience members to write us at info@norfolkconcerts.org
to help us in our protest against this unfair treatment of
Russian musicians. Every letter is very important and we
will forward your views and opinions onto the appropriate
authorities and interested MPs.On another matter, Ryanair
has initiated rules effective September 2009 that require
artists to purchase an extra ticket for small instruments
such as violins, flutes, clarinets, etc. which fit
comfortably in the overhead compartment. We are most
disappointed at this discriminatory action against music and
musicians and urge you again to write to us at info@norfolkconcerts.org.
We also would like to extend our gratitude to Jonathan Chan
for
stepping in for Pavel Kolesnikov at very short notice. He
performed both violin and piano to an appreciative and
impressed audience on May 8th and we hope to bring him back
to Norfolk at a later date. Jonathan is a student of Prof.
David Takeno( violin) and Prof. Caroline Palmer (piano) at
the Guildhall School of Musik in London. For more on
Jonathan, please look him up under Artists Bios and Links!
Agnes
Langer wins coveted Prize!
Agnes Langer has won, at 16, the third prize and audience
prize at the First International Yankelevich Violin
Competition. She was the youngest participant and wowed the
jury and the audience with her immaculate performances,
especially of the Bach Solo Sonata. Our congratulations to
Agnes on her remarkable achievement!
